Diaz somehow manages to get caught up with this agent and is caught in the crossfire between him and the people out to get him.  After first being kidnapped by Cruise, she begins to trust him.  Before long, they both discover they have no choice but to rely on each other, because that’s all they’ve got.  Numerous impressive action scenes make for quite a visually appealing film, on top of the fact that two of Hollywood’s hottest stars play the lead roles.

This summer marks the first time Diaz and Cruise hit the big screen together since Vanilla Sky in 2001.  And it appears history has repeated itself as they two once again make a great pair. Knight and Day is directed by James Mangold, 46 year old American film director and screenwriter.  Mangold is best-known for directing and co-writing Walk the Line, about the life of Johnny and June Carter Cash.  Other memorable works by Mangold include Cop Land, Girl Interrupted and Kate and Leopold.  He also has made a few appearances onscreen, including his role as Dr. Greg in The Sweetest Thing.

Bad Teacher is a comedy set to release in 2011 about Elizabeth Halsey, a middle school teacher known for inappropriate behavior, who attempts to woo another teacher after being dumped.  Her behavior and latest affection create tension and conflict within the school.  This cast is full of funny stars including Jason Segel, Molly Shannon, Thomas Lennon and Justin Timberlake.

Diaz is once again taking on a non-comic role in the upcoming film The Green Hornet.  This action thriller involves two young men who use their inherited wealth to create an indestructible car in an effort to take on the city’s gangs.  Diaz plays Lenore Case, the secretary who assists in this master plan.

There are a number of other films currently in development that Diaz plans to star in such as Bobbie Sue, Swingles, Old Acquaintance, and An Ex to Grind.  The latter is a twisted tale of love, divorce and alimony.  Diaz is married to a sports star, who after suffering an injury, becomes lazy and worthless. Since his downfall she has found success in business and wants to divorce him until she finds out how much she will have to pay in alimony.  Her plan to find him a new wife to avoid giving away her hard-earned money goes south when she decides she wants him back after the new wife turns his life around.

  1. There’s Something About Mary (1998): This was the film that really pushed Diaz to superstardom, playing the role of Mary who is the object of Ted’s (Ben Stiller) affection, even 13 years after he missed his date with her to the prom.  Full of bizarre and funny scenes, this was one of the best comedies of the ‘90s.
  2. My Best Friend’s Wedding (1997): Despite starring alongside one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Julia Roberts, Diaz managed to standout in her role as the adorable Kimberly Wallace.  She is set to marry Michael O’Neal (Dermot Mulroney), but Julianne Potter (Roberts) decides she’s in love with O’Neal and attempts to break them up.
  3. The Mask (1994): After auditioning with no previous acting experience, Diaz was cast in her first movie as the lead female role in this comedy, starring next to Jim Carrey.  This quirky movie about Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey), who finds a mask that transforms him into a superhero, was our first glimpse of what was in store for this talented actress.
  4. Vanilla Sky (2001): Taking on a whole different role, Diaz plays the scorned lover who seeks revenge.  She intentionally wrecks the car while driving David (Tom Cruise), killing herself and leaving him with a permanently damaged face.
  5. Shrek (2001): This movie won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2002, and wouldn’t have been the same without the voice of Diaz as Princess Fiona.  We again see in this film the range of different talents this actress possesses.

The tall, blue-eyed blonde, was born in San Diego in 1972.  She began her career as a model and got her start in acting when she was 21.  Despite having no experience, she was cast as the lead female role in the 1994 hit, The Mask.  This comedy, also starring Jim Carrey, was a dazzling start for Diaz, who was nominated for the 1995 MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance.  After this hit, she spent several years acting in lower budget films such as Feeling Minnesota and A Life Less Ordinary.  Her roles in the hit comedies My Best Friend’s Wedding and There’s Something About Mary are what finally pushed her into superstardom.   Both of these roles brought her a Blockbuster Entertainment Award.  She won Favorite Supporting Actress-Comedy in 1998 for My Best Friend’s Wedding and Favorite Actress-Comedy in 1999 for There’s Something About Mary.  Since then, she has been nominated for and won countless other awards for a variety of different roles in films such as Vanilla Sky, Charlie’s Angels, Being John Malkovich and The Holiday.  She continues to expand her repertoire, scoring big in all of the Shrek movies as the voice of Princess Fiona.
